Karen has over 18 years’ experience in international development with specific expertise in disability inclusion and the intersectionality of gender and disability. Her particular interests are equity-focused and gender-responsive approaches to programming and MEL. She has worked both overseas and in the UK, with disability rights organisation and research institutes, and is currently freelance consultant for a range of clients including Sightsavers, CBM, Anglican Alliances, Tearfund, LCD, and Childreach. Country experiences include Angola, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, China, Cote d’Ivoire, DRC, East Timor, India, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Areas of Expertise:
Thematic areas involve women’s economic empowerment, inclusive education, gender-based violence, social norm change around gender and disability inclusion and empowerment.
Areas of technical expertise include capacity development and organisational support on disability & gender inclusion, and MEL; project evaluation and synthesis/learning reviews; organisational development including strategic planning, theory of change and MEL framework development for small NGOs
