Ruby Johnson

Brief Biography:

I am a committed human rights advocate with diverse experience in gender equality and rights-based approaches to program design and coordination, advocacy, partnership building and capacity strengthening.  I have over 10 years experience advancing gender justice and human rights working with international NGOs, Funds, UN Agencies and grassroots organisations.  I am currently the Co-Director of FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund, the only fund dedicated exclusively to resourcing young feminist organizing worldwide, supporting grassroots groups in over 80 countries. Prior to joining FRIDA, I worked with UN Women in Cambodia, the Fred Hollows Foundation, and Amnesty International  in Australia and with indigenous communities in Mexico and Australia.

Areas of Expertise:

Thematic areas of expertise include  young women's leadership, young feminist organising, women’s political participation, girls’ education, young women and girls’ in governance processes.

Skills: Program design, coordination and evaluation,  capacity building on women’s and girls’ rights and gender equality,  not for profit management and feminist organisational design and development, resource mobilisation campaigning, grantmaking and participatory research methodologies.
