Response to the 2022 G7 Leaders' Communique

Response: The Communique of the G7 Leaders can be an important signpost of language and initiatives that will shape future international negotiations. Under the German Presidency, Leaders have called for a gender-equal global recovery, recognised the importance of care, acknowledged that structural barriers to equality are faced by women in all their diversity, and even mentioned feminist foreign policies. But the real challenge comes with implementation and here the Communique falls short, whether in failing to support new measures on vaccine equity, debt cancellation or progressive global taxation.
