Response to the 2023 G7 Leaders' Communique

Response: Against a backdrop of ensuing global crises, the 2023 G7 Leaders’ Communique included some positive language on gender equality, including the need to address structural barriers and resist attempts to rollback women’s rights. However, it remained light on action and funding commitments. Moreover, this year, G7 leaders announced a new ‘nexus approach’ to mainstreaming gender equality. Yet, on the face of it, this appears to be of limited value. GADN’s response signposts to other Statements and Ministerial Communiques where positive language on gender equality was secured earlier in the year as part of Japan’s G7 Presidency.
