Jacqueline Njagi

Brief Biography:

Jacqueline Njagi is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Senior Prosecutor at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. She currently works at the Training Division of the Prosecution Training Institute. Until 2024, She was the Head of the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Division & Counter Trafficking in Person Unit Delegated Prosecution Services Division and Victim and Witness and Facilitation Support Unit. During her six-year tenure, she spearheaded several successful assignments.Ms Njagi also has a wealth of experience as a Consultant and Litigator for various International, National, and Civil Society organizations in the area of Criminal Law, Governance, Gender and Human Rights, Counter Trafficking in Persons. Labour Law and Rights, Women's Rights, Child Law, Gender and Social Inclusion, Legislative and Policy Development and Analysis. She also has excellent Advocacy and facilitation skills.

She has previously worked at the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice- National Legal Aid Program (NALEAP) where she was a Deputy Legal Aid Coordinator and a Private Practitioner.
She holds a post-graduate degree in International Law and Human rights from the United Nations Mandated University for Peace, San Jose -Costa Rica, Bachelor of Law (LLB) and Bachelor of Social Laws(BSL) degrees from Shivaji University, India, a Higher Diploma in HRM, Kenya from the Institute of Human Resources Management, Kenya and a Postgraduate Diploma from Kenya School of Law and several certificates in the Public Policy, SGBV, Mediation and Gender training methods and a certified trainer in Human trafficking issues.

Ms. Njagi is a member of the Law Society of Kenya, Mediation Training Institute (USA), IHRM-K, and the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA-K). She was a Pro-bono Lawyer for several National and Civil society organizations in Kenya. In 2011 she was awarded the 2nd Runners up Pro-bono Lawyer of the Year award by CRADLE, the Children Foundation, and the Long Serving Pro-bono Lawyer award by the Federation of Women Lawyers, Kenya.
