404 Error: Artificial Intelligence, revolution for whom?
April 2026
What this members' meeting was about
This GADN Members' Meeting explored the rapid growth of AI and its impacts on gender justice, from online gender-based violence and harmful mental health advice to job insecurity and data privacy risks. We examined how AI development reinforces existing global inequalities - including its environmental costs, reliance on exploited Global South labour, demand for critical minerals, and risks of digital colonialism - while 2.6 billion people remain without internet access.
We were grateful for the expert insight from Nandini Chami, Deputy Director at IT for Change, who shared analysis from their 'Feminist Digital Justice' and 'Assessing the AI Moment from a Global South Perspective' projects, helping members understand how to orientate advocacy in the AI era.
Please note we only recorded Nandini’s presentation and the Q&A at the end - the breakout sessions were not recorded. We also experience a few tech issues on the day, although the majority of the recording is unaffected.
