Resources and Rights under attack: Obstacles and Strategies
November 2025
What this members' meeting was about
This meeting continued and broadened the discussion started at our June Members’ Meeting, ‘Feminist Solidarity in a Time of Aid Cuts and Backlash: Reflecting, Resisting, Reimagining’, in which we shared updates and sector-wide responses to the government’s plan for cutting the UK aid budget and its implications for gender equality funding across FCDO. In this meeting, speakers provided wider analysis of the changing landscape in which we are doing our work, looking particularly at the financial context in relation to bilateral aid, funds and foundations and private finance, as well as the rollback on rights. The meeting offered an opportunity for GADN members to come together, hear from an expert panel, reflect how the current context is impacting our work as a sector and strategise how to move forward collectively as a network. The meeting also included space for GADN members to connect with each other and exchange reflections and strategies, including on the insights provided by the panel, in dedicated breakout groups.
Speakers:
Chair, Erika Yap, Policy and Advocacy Officer at GADN
Laila Alodaat, Prospera
Bhumika Muchhala, Third World Network
Ayesha Khan, ODI Global
On reflection following the in-depth and confidential discussion, speakers preferred not to publish the recording of this meeting.
