GADN Membership Application for UK Individuals
The Gender & Development Network (GADN) is an influential network of UK-based NGOs and leading experts working with partners worldwide to put gender equality and women’s rights at the heart of international development. Our vision is of a world defined by social justice and gender equality: one where women and girls everywhere are able to claim their rights, freed from discrimination and prejudice.
The benefits of being a GADN Member include:
Adding strength to your voice by being part of an established network
Obtaining new ideas
Working with others on your organisation’s priorities
Informing others in the sector about your own activities
Opportunities for support and collaboration and joint activities
GADN offers members an effective voice for their concerns at national and international levels. Our members work in partnership with development and advocacy organisations throughout the world.
As well as regular working group meetings, GADN members meet quarterly to discuss and share up-to date gender and development issues, research and expertise. GADN meetings provide vital networking and advocacy opportunities and enable members to share experiences and concerns.
GADN also provides an informal but important support structure for gender professionals working in an increasingly difficult development environment. The network shares information by email enabling regular information-share, updates about the latest advocacy and training opportunities.
As a member, you are welcome to join any of our working groups. You can find more about our current working groups here.
Individual Membership Application process
Membership applications for individuals based in the UK are made by completing the form below. Please email comms@gadnetwork.org for further information or if you have any questions.
Membership Criteria
Membership of GADN is open to individuals who support our vision and mission:
Our vision is of a world defined by social justice and gender equality where women and girls everywhere are able to claim and enjoy their rights, and live free from oppression, prejudice and discrimination.
Our goal is to promote gender equality and the rights of women and girls in the Global South who face multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination, putting their voices and priorities at the centre of policy making.
Our understanding is that change happens by influencing and challenging those with power, and also by building collective, positive power by working in alliances. As a network, we build and support collaboration among our members to maximise our combined influence. We recognise that how we work is important, pushing ourselves to be more feminist and anti-racist and adapting our methods to reflect new learning.
Non-discrimination: GADN expects our members to strive to challenge all forms of discrimination, including based on gender, race and ethnicity, SOGIE, class, religion, sexual orientation and disability and work towards creating inclusive spaces within the network.
For more information on our strategic aims, please go to our website.
Trustees reserve the right to refuse membership, or terminate membership without notice if members act in a way that does not support the vision and role of GADN.

Membership System
GADN operates a system where membership runs in line with our financial year: April to March. (The pro rata rate is £3.33 per full month between your start date and the end of March, or £1.66 per month for concessions)
Consultants’ Directory
GADN hosts a directory of consultants who are part of the network on the website. This allows consultants to advertise themselves to a highly targeted audience. We frequently get requests for advice on consultants from INGOs and we recommend that they look at the database.
The database is only open to GADN members, for an annual charge of £35 (calculated pro rata for those joining mid-year). If you would like your information to be on the database, please fill out the Consultants’ Directory form at the end of this application form.
