Rose Ronoh

Brief Biography:

Rose is an accomplished and passionate Kenyan gender economist with over two decades of diverse experience in the public, private, and development sectors across Africa. Her expertise encompasses international trade, trade facilitation, regional integration, gender mainstreaming, women's economic empowerment, food security, customs, and ICT for trade. Engaging in negotiation, design, and implementation of trade and gender equality initiatives, Rose has collaborated with prominent development partners such as UNECA, CBI Netherlands, GIZ, Expertise France, and USAID.

As the founder of TradeSmart Consult Ltd, a Nairobi-based development consultancy firm, Rose focuses on providing innovative trade solutions with a specific emphasis on women's economic empowerment and international trade. Currently pursuing a Business Management PhD at Moi University, Rose holds a Master's in Business Administration (MBA), a BSc in International Business Administration, a Post Graduate Diploma in International Trade Law and Trade Policy, and a Professional Certificate in International Trade.

Rose has actively participated in numerous conferences, including the Women and Youth AfCFTA Conference in 2022, where she presented on gender issues in trade. She has also contributed to the Africa Women Trade Conference in 2021, the World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference in 2015, the UNCTAD14 Nairobi Conference, and the 6th TICAD Nairobi, among others. A prolific writer, Rose has published several articles focusing on intra-African trade and access to finance.

Her commitment extends beyond academia and conferences; Rose has trained over a thousand women, youth, and Micro Small, and Medium-Sized enterprises in Africa on entrepreneurship and access to finance for business preparation.

Rose's dedication to her field is evident through her recognition as an International Trade Professional Fellow, Trade Law Africa Centre Alumni, and Australian Awards Fellow. In 2022, she received the Top 40 under 40 in Africa Award under the Consultancy category, following her Rising Star Award in 2014. Additionally, Rose actively supports education initiatives for children in Elgeiyo Marakwet County, demonstrating her commitment to social responsibility. Rose's impactful contributions highlight her dedication to gender-inclusive economic development and her significant role in advancing trade and empowerment initiatives across the African continent.
