Feminist Responses to COVID-19: A conversation with Southern Women’s Rights Organisations
April 2020
The Coronavirus pandemic has exposed the fault lines within our societies; highlighting how neoliberalism has decimated the systems we rely on for mutual cooperation, the continued undervaluing of the care economy and the desperate need for publicly funded, gender-transformative public services and universal social protection systems.
As part of GADN’s quarterly members’ meeting, we were joined by the following women to discuss how the pandemic is playing out in the Global South and how Women’s Rights Organisations are responding and organising:
Noelene Nabulivou - co-founder of Diverse Voices and Action (DIVA) for Equality
Leah Eryenyu - Research, Advocacy and Movement Building Manager (Akina Mama Wa Afrika)
Mishy Singano - Program Manager (FEMNET)
