Joint open welcome letter to new Foreign Secretary

Letter: Together with our members, we have written to new Foreign Secretary, The Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP, to welcome him to his role.  

We call for 'women and girls' to be retained as a core FCDO priority, particularly in the face of accelerating global rollback, and suggest concrete actions to ensure effective implementation of the recent UK International Strategic Framework on Women and Girls. 

As ODA flows decline, we further suggest a more effective and evidence-based approach to private finance, demand improved debt relief and tax reform measures, and a return to the 0.7 per cent target for ODA.

Finally, we join with others in urging effective action to end the death and suffering inflicted on the Palestinian people.
